Marie Härtel
Design Technical Assistant
OSZ Bekleidung und Mode Graduate
Fashion & Design specialist born and trained in Berlin. I live this passion both professionally and privately. Hardly a day goes by without me writing down ideas, thinking of fabric and color combinations, or working at the sewing machine. It is both drive and passion that runs through my life.
I draw inspiration from various sources and decades of fashion history. Although I appreciate modernity for its innovation, old designs, cuts, and styles are my domain. I blend both approaches, combining modern cuts with their simplicity through craftsmanship and old-school techniques.
My Philosophy
Passion-Driven Craft
For me, clothing is not only an expression of the person who wears it, but must also shape the person. Whether for everyday wear, work clothing, or special occasions, it must make a statement about the person while being able to stand on its own - in craftsmanship as well as in style and color.
Timeless Design
I believe that contrast through materials, cuts, and colors is just as important as creating something simple with concrete language. My inspiration comes from studying form and appearance across fashion history, which increases creative influence and enables straightforward work.
Quality Craftsmanship
When it comes to processing fabrics and materials, I believe that even a garment for minimal use should possess the same quality and be crafted with the same concentration. When something is handmade, it should have exactly that character - this is why I love my profession and pursue it with passion.
Professional Journey
Berlin, Germany
Completed Design Technical Assistant program specializing in Fashion and Design. Developed expertise in pattern making, construction techniques, design methodology, and industry-standard processing. Created graduation project based on "Bauhaus" theme - designing and crafting a complete jacket and pants ensemble.
Project Consulting & Workshop Introduction
Learned to provide quick but comprehensive project consulting for both beginners and professionals. This was my entry into workshop teaching, where I deepened my fabric knowledge and developed strong social interaction skills essential for effective teaching.
Construction & Manufacturing Specialist
Developed a completely new anatomical approach to create functional and fashionable garments for small and large four-legged friends. Focused on construction, manufacturing, and creating durable pieces that withstand great stresses and active use.
Now self-employed, I develop various techniques and works through workshops and collaborations. I share my knowledge and spread creative approaches with proper craftsmanship as my foundation.
Featured Projects & Techniques
Bauhaus Graduation Project
My graduation project explored the intersection of function and form, creating a complete jacket and pants ensemble inspired by Bauhaus principles.
Key innovations: Linear design with black main color and blue accents, magnetic button closures to unite form and function, wide cuts balanced with precise tailoring techniques.
Advanced Construction Techniques
Specialized in industry-standard construction methods including pleated pants with straight waistbands and shirt dresses with classic yokes.
Expertise: Pattern construction from technical drawings, yoke attachment with pleating/gathering, collar design, cuff construction with sleeve plackets.
My Work Methodology
Research & Inspiration
For every major design and garment, research is my first cornerstone. I gain inspiration and impressions about cuts, fabrics, and colors from various sources and decades of fashion history.
This isn't about imitating or plagiarizing existing pieces, but rather studying form and appearance. This creates absorption that increases creative influence and enables straightforward work.
Preparation is an important point in this work and should never be neglected.
Conception & Planning
Before any garment is made, I clarify the exact foundations: precise pattern drawings, front and back illustrations, colors, and fabric properties.
Without this pre-planning, errors can occur during production, the final product may not meet expectations, or colors and fabric properties may be insufficient for the garment.
I maintain a fabric file and recreate patterns on smaller scales for overview and future reference.
